19 years old Nigerian attempted suicide in UK

May Brown is a 19 year old Nigeria student married to a Briton in the UK. She is currently in a coma after attempting suicide due to deportation order.

She is a student of public affairs at Weymouth College who moved to UK three years ago after witnessing the murder of her father and seeked for asylum which was later denied. A year ago she met her husband Michael brown, and they got married in December 2012.

The British immigration denied her British citizenship because they believed that her marriage is sham.

May committed suicide a few days to her deportation day because she of fear that her father's killer might track her down and also she could not bear to live without her husband.

She left a note before she attempted suicide and it said the following:

'I am deeply sorry that I had to go this way, without even saying goodbye.
'The UK immigration has finally driven me insane. They've pushed me too far this time and I can't take the pain any more.

'I don't want a life or a future you won't be part of. I love you so much, more than life itself and can't endure the agony of not being with you.

'Please forgive me for ending it this way. It's better to die with my dignity than be subjected to torture and undignified death back in Nigeria.'

I find it really sad but at the same time a stupid move!!! a lot of people have relocated by choice or by force and have turned out well.

Is UK citizenship really worth taking ones life???

British Couple Jailed for Attempting to Smuggle Nigerian Baby Into UK

A British couple - Simon and Gladys Heap from Oxford - have been convicted by a UK court for attempting to smuggle a Nigerian baby into the UK by claiming it was their biological child.

The couple was sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for 12 months, and 250 hours of community service after pleading guilty on April 16, 2013.

Gladys aged 52 and her husband, 47, had entered Nigeria in July 2010 and had gone to the British High Commission in Lagos to apply for a British passport for the baby girl claiming Gladys had a baby just a few days after entering the country.

According to the British High Commission in Abuja, the staff at the High Commission were however suspicious.

"...DNA tests later confirmed that neither adult was related to the child. A birth certificate they had presented was also found to be fraudulent. They flew home without the baby," the statement issued in Abuja yesterday said.

Although the statement was silent on how the couple came about the child, it implied that the child may have been purchased.

Following an investigation by a joint Border Force and Metropolitan Police Service (MPS), the couple was arrested and charged with facilitating a breach of immigration law. They were sentenced by the Isleworth Crown Court.

The head of the Border Force at Heathrow, Mr. Marc Owen, described the case as shocking. "Thanks to the close co-operation between Border Force, the Metropolitan Police and staff at the British High Commission they were stopped and we were able to bring them to justice," he said.

The leader of the investigation team, Detective Inspector Kate Bridger, said the couple tried to circumvent the adoption system and deceive the authorities.

"A child should not be treated as a commodity to be bought and sold," she said, adding that the system is in place to protect children. The child has remained in Nigeria.

Heap, an expert on Nigeria, works with companies trying to forge international trade links. His wife is a nurse.

Heap has a BA in History from Cambridge University, an MA in African Studies from the University of London and a PhD in History from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria. He also studied History at Oxford University.

He has previously worked as a researcher for child rights organisation, Plan International; a fellow at the University of Ibadan and is currently a senior researcher at the development agency Japan International Cooperation Agency.

185 people killed in Nigeria clash

Fighting between military and Islamist groups, caused death and chaos in Baga town on Friday in Borno state.

A lot of lives were taken and other injured. This incident has definitely been shocking and the loss of lives involved in this fight in just a short period of time is outrageous.

President Jonathan and his ridiculous amnesty plan is obviously a sign of his weakness.

President Jonathan should show that he has a backbone and do something fast.
Innocent people are dying !!!!

Nigerian couple reunite after 10 years and died 24 hours later in a ghastly bus accident

The story of Romeo and Juliet is read by many and taken for granted as just another story, a fairy tale.
But, your heart will melt when you hear one of the most shocking stories of the tragic accident involving a Young Shall Grow luxurious bus and a Dangote cement truck, the story of Nneka and Kenneth Ojielo, a couple who died in the accident. Theirs is a story that will bring tears to many eyes because Kenneth had not seen his wife in the last 10 years until Thursday, the day before they both perished in the explosion.
“My sister travelled to Lagos from Enugu on Wednesday. On Thursday, I took her to the airport to welcome her husband. No one could separate them when Kenneth eventually came out with his luggage. They kissed for about 15 minutes and everybody around just stood watching.”
Nneka’s younger brother, Ogonna Abako, told Punch that “Kenneth travelled to Austria in 2003 in search of greener pastures. Before he left, they already had five children. Their eldest child is 21.
“They actually got married very early. Kenneth was 26 years old when they got married while my sister was about 20 years old at the time. Everybody was joyous when we heard he was coming home.”
A picture of the joyous reunion taken by Ogonna’s wife on her mobile phone at the airport showed a couple with much happiness written all over their faces.
But that joy was short-lived.
On Friday, they decided to travel to Enugu. Kenneth wanted to meet his children as soon as possible. The children too were ecstatic in Enugu as they kept calling, asking their father, whom they had not seen in the last 10 years, to get home on time.
Ogonna said, “I drove my sister and her husband to a hotel and lodged them there. The following day, I woke up early to take them to the bus park. We got to Jibowu and realised that the Ekene bus they wanted to take had already left.
“I wanted them to take a smaller bus, but Kenneth insisted he would rather board the luxury bus.”
The couple held hands in the bus and prayed for journey mercies as Ogonna bid them farewell, not knowing it was for the last time. He said he called his sister’s phone at 3pm but it did not connect. He thought there was at network problem.
“When it was 6pm, my sister’s eldest child called and said she had not seen her parents. I then asked my brother to go to the Young Shall Grow park in Enugu. He was told there that only two of the company’s buses took off from Lagos that day, one from Maza Maza and one from Jibowu.
“Many families were waiting for their relations at the park too. The bus that took off from Maza Maza got to the park and that was when the passengers broke the news of the accident to waiting families. Those children will never see their father and mother again,” Abako said as he dabbed at his teary eyes.
Worse is the fact that their bodies cannot be claimed by their family members for burial as they were burnt beyond recognition and were therefore given a mass burial on Tuesday in Benin.

Samoa Air charges passengers by weight

Lose weight and get less charge to travel by Samoa air. This airline is the first and only to introduce the  pay by weight policy.

The airline is calculating the cost of the ticket based on both the weight pf passengers and their baggage: customers pay a fixed price per kg, which varies according to the length of the route. The rates range from $1 a kilogram for the weight of the traveler and their baggage on the airline's shortest domestic route to about $4.16 per kg for travel from Samoa to the neighbouring nation of American Samoa.

This policy will motivate people to watch their weight and it is positive for kids because it changes the airline policy of 2 yrs and above paying adult price; they will only be charged by their weight.

Pago Pago- based Inter Island Airways and Polysnesian Airlines, which is owned by the Samoa government, also runs flights between the country and American Samoa.

Do you agree with  this ?

Baby smoking cigarette

On Easter Sunday, at a park in Shanghai, a toddler was caught smoking cigarette under the consent of the parents.

The mother apparently lit the cigarette for the child and watched him take a drag which made him sick and he started rolling on the floor.

The parents found it hilarious. Its is anything but funny and very irresponsible of them.
